Job Title: Policy and Community Organizer
Organization: PODER of Idaho

Overview:
PODER of Idaho is dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of the Latinx and immigrant communities in Idaho. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Policy and Community Organizer to lead our advocacy efforts, influence policy decisions, and drive positive change. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on crucial issues affecting the Latinx and immigrant populations in the state.
This full time position reports directly to the Director of Programs and Operations. A successful hire must reside in Idaho before employment can begin.
Responsibilities:
Policy Analysis:
Research and analyze local, state, and federal policies affecting Latinx and immigrant communities.
Stay informed about legislative developments, proposed bills, and regulatory changes that impact the organization's mission.
Policy Advocacy:
Work alongside PODER Leadership in developing and implementing advocacy strategies to promote policies that align with PODER of Idaho's mission.
Build relationships with policymakers, government officials, and community leaders and educate them on the issues that affect the Latinx and immigrant community.
Represent the organization at legislative hearings, community forums, and other relevant events.
Create educational materials to inform policymakers, community members, and the public about key issues related to Latino and immigrant rights.
Organize workshops, webinars, and informational sessions to increase awareness and understanding of policy issues.
Community Engagement and Mobilization:
Collaborate with community organizations, coalitions, and stakeholders to build a unified voice on Latinx and immigrant rights issues.
Conduct outreach to engage community members in advocacy efforts and provide them with resources to participate in policy discussions.
Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage and mobilize Latino and immigrant communities in Idaho on PODER of Idaho strategic priorities.
Manage door-to-door outreach, attend community events, and leverage digital platforms to connect with residents and build a strong grassroots network.
Strategic Partnerships:
Cultivate partnerships with other advocacy groups, nonprofits, and agencies to amplify the impact of campaign initiatives.
Collaborate with legal experts, researchers, and other specialists to strengthen PODER of Idaho’s advocacy efforts.
Represent PODER of Idaho in coalitions and collaborate on joint initiatives to amplify the impact of advocacy efforts.
Leadership Development:
Identify and cultivate community leaders within the Latino and immigrant populations.
Alongside PODER leadership develop and organize leadership development programs, workshops, and training sessions to empower community members to advocate on PODER of Idaho strategic campaigns.
Advocacy Campaigns:
Collaborate with the advocacy team to implement grassroots campaigns and strategies focused on key issues on Manejando Sin Miedo and Idaho Latino Vote.
Mobilize community members to participate in advocacy activities, including rallies, town halls, and meetings with stakeholders.
Community Education:
Organize educational workshops and webinars, information sessions, and community forums to raise awareness about rights, resources, and available support services.
Distribute educational materials and resources to community members to enhance their understanding of key issues.
Utilize social media to disseminate information on campaigns and legislative developments, proposed bills, and regulatory changes that impact the organization's mission.
Internal Responsibilities:
Manage, delegate, and build the leadership of PODER interns
In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Director of Programs and Operations, develop messaging and speak publicly on behalf of PODER of Idaho at events and forums.
Create monthly reports on campaign progress to the Director of Programs and Operations.
Assist with PODER sponsored events, fundraisers, and conferences.
Social Media Management:
Work with Social Media Contractor to develop and implement a social media strategy within campaigns to engage the community and increase visibility.
Create engaging content for various social media platforms, ensuring it reflects the organization's relevant campaigns.
Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and foster positive online interactions.
Qualifications:
1-3 years of substantial work experience in political, legislative, advocacy or law related work, preferably in Idaho.
Commitment to advancing PODER of Idaho’s values, missions and goals.
Demonstrated experience in public policy advocacy, particularly in areas related to Latino and immigrant rights.
Strong knowledge of the legislative process and the ability to navigate complex policy landscapes.
Strong analytical, research, writing and oral advocacy skills, as well as the ability to articulate legal concepts and complex issues and communicate them tactfully and effectively to a variety of audiences;
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable;
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines;
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse staff, coalitions and community groups, motivate volunteers, work across the political spectrum, and value differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance;
Demonstrated dedication to liberatory space and practice.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is expected to begin between $ 42,000-45,000. This is a contract position.

Contracting Position: Community Organizing Intern - Latino and Immigrant Rights

Compensation: $15/HR, 15-17 Hours a week, Seasonal (4 Months)

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Organizing Intern to mobilize and empower community members, build strategic partnerships, and drive grassroots initiatives that address key issues impacting our communities.
This position reports directly to the Policy and Community Organizer.

Responsibilities:
Community Mobilization & Education:
Execute as instructed by Policy and Community organizer outreach strategies to engage and mobilize Latino and immigrant communities in Idaho.
Implement outreach plans to engage community members in advocacy efforts and provide them with resources to participate in policy discussions.
Assist door-to-door outreach, attend community events, and leverage digital platforms to connect with residents and build a strong grassroots network.
Collaborate with the advocacy team to develop and implement grassroots campaigns focused on key issues affecting Latino and immigrant communities.
Organize educational workshops, information sessions, and community forums to raise awareness about rights, resources, and available support services in collaboration with the PODER advocacy team.
Distribute educational materials and resources to community members to enhance their understanding of key issues.
Mobilize community members to participate in advocacy activities, including rallies, town halls, and meetings with policymakers.
Community Liaison:
Recruit community member within the Latino and immigrant populations to be part of the leadership development program
Assist Policy and Community Organizer to facilitate leadership development programs, workshops, and training sessions to empower community members to advocates.
Will conduct outreach to garner participation in organizing activity, such as email blast, social media outreach, newsletter updates.
Upon request, represent PODER of Idaho in coalitions and collaborate on joint initiatives to amplify the impact of advocacy efforts.
Establish and nurture partnerships with local organizations, nonprofits, and community groups that share common goals.
PODER Internal:
Assist with PODER sponsored events, fundraisers, and conferences.
Create monthly reports on progress to the Policy and Community Organizer.
Engage in social media content creation and with posting.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in community organizing, preferably on issues related to Latino and immigrant rights.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Commitment to centering the voices and lived experiences of directly impacted
communities in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Familiarity with the local Latino and immigrant communities in Idaho.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse staff, coalitions and community groups, motivate volunteers, work across the political spectrum, and value differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance;
